Season 4 brings villain Stitch back to the battlefield with five new multiplayer maps, fan-favorite Zombies Grief mode, new Warzone POI “The Overlook,” and multiple weapons. The massive update launches Thursday, May 29 at 9 AM PT across all platforms.

Activision is delivering a massive content drop for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone Season 4, launching May 29 at 9 AM PT across PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and all other platforms. The centerpiece of this update brings back one of the franchise’s most notorious villains in a surprising narrative twist.

Stitch Returns in Unlikely Alliance

Season 4’s storyline reveals that Russell Adler didn’t eliminate Vikhor “Stitch” Kuzmin after their confrontation in Black Ops Cold War, instead confining the villain to an Icelandic CIA black site prison. Following evidence uncovered by the late CIA Agent Jason Hudson, Adler and his team have broken Stitch out from confinement, seeking his help to crack the codenames needed to find the Pantheon moles.

Players can unlock Stitch immediately through the Season 4 Battle Pass, which includes the “Supermax” Operator Skin showing him in prison clothes with his signature mask. BlackCell subscribers get additional variants including the “Supermax BlackCell” skin with chains and energy pulsing under translucent skin.

Five New Multiplayer Maps Expand Iceland Setting

The Season 4 map lineup directly ties into the jailbreak narrative with three Icelandic locations:

Launch Maps:

  • Shutdown: A hydroelectric dam attack map where players fight over rugged terrain, dive into lakes, and battle around damaged turbines
  • Fugitive: The black site prison infiltration featuring climbing, ziplining, and cell block battles with jailbreak alarms
  • Blitz: A Strike map where Pantheon agents get ambushed by the Rogue team, offering bridge cover and cliffside vantage points

Mid-Season Additions:

  • Eclipse: Stitch arrives in Avalon at an underground nightclub with neon-lit battles across halls and dance stages
  • Fringe: The beloved Black Ops 3 map returns reimagined as the Rolling Hills distillery grand opening

Zombies Grief Mode Makes Triumphant Return

The competitive Zombies mode Grief returns for the first time since Black Ops 2, featuring 4v4 indirect PvP where two teams pledge support to either S.A.M. or Director Richtofen. Teams compete to capture zones while surviving zombies, with handlers providing communications support and modifiers including reduced damage, drained ammo, and slowed movements affecting opponents.

Additional Zombies content includes a new Shatter Blast ammo mod that explodes on contact with armor-piercing damage, three new GobbleGums (Explosive Flourish, Flavor Hex, and Rainburps), and the returning Grim Reaper support weapon.

Warzone Gets “The Overlook” Skyscraper

Verdansk’s Downtown area receives a major addition with The Overlook, a new skyscraper under construction that replaces Burger Town and the SKN Comm tower. The dominant POI features two flanking cranes, multiple checkpoints, and vertical gameplay from ground level through the relocated Burger Town up to the Penthouse and Roof, with ascenders providing rapid height advantages.

New Warzone modes include Clash (52v52 team battles in specific POIs), Havoc Royale with game-changing modifiers, and Resurgence Casual mixing human players with bots for practice.

New Weapons and Game Modes

The Season 4 Battle Pass unlocks two primary weapons: the LC10 SMG and FFAR 1 Assault Rifle. Additional weapons arrive through seasonal events, including the Essex Model 07 Marksman Rifle, Olympia Special weapon, and Pickaxe Melee weapon.

New Multiplayer Modes:

  • Team Elimination: A Kill Confirmed variant where teams have limited lives per round, with dog tags determining eliminations
  • One in the Chamber: The fan-favorite mode returns with one pistol, one bullet, a knife, and three lives
  • Party Ops: A Limited-Time Mode featuring randomized themed minigames

Ranked Play and Competitive Features

Season 4 introduces separate Ranked Play modes for both Battle Royale (at launch) and Resurgence (mid-season), each with distinct skill divisions and seasonal rewards. The competitive scene gets additional support with the return of Fringe, which previously appeared in Black Ops 3’s competitive map pool.

Technical Enhancements and Store Content

The update includes weapon attachment expansions like the G-Grip Tactical Foregrip for SMGs and Assault Rifles, plus conversion mods for burst-fire and full-auto variants of existing weapons.

Store bundles feature cel-shaded aesthetics with the Tracer Pack: Ink and Smoke, alongside System Breach and Olympus Bolt themed content. The Battle Pass provides over 110 unlockable items plus up to 1,100 COD Points for progression.

What This Means for Players

Season 4 represents Call of Duty’s continued commitment to substantial content drops that advance both gameplay and narrative elements. The return of Grief mode addresses long-standing community requests, while the five new maps provide diverse tactical experiences across multiple game modes.

The Stitch storyline creates an intriguing moral complexity where former enemies must collaborate against a greater threat, setting up potential narrative developments for future seasons. Combined with Warzone’s major POI addition and technical improvements, Season 4 offers compelling reasons for both returning and new players to engage with the Black Ops 6 ecosystem.

Season 4 launches Thursday, May 29 at 9 AM PT across all platforms.
